My name is Michael Sirois. After a 30-year educational career, I’m now establishing myself as a writer. You can find out more about me at my website, but this site is about my latest set of novels, the If a Butterfly series.
I started working on If a Butterfly in November 2003, during National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). Its earliest drafts expanded from 53,000 to over 300,000 words over the next decade, then underwent massive trims and editing as it got closer to publication. In the meantime, I’ve written, edited, and published two other books (The Jagged Man and Aggravated), and have started work on a few others. Butterfly should probably have been published before Aggravated, but, for reasons that will be obvious if you read Aggravated, I had to finish it first.I’ve also pulled Jagged Man from circulation temporarily while I rework it. A 2nd edition if it should be back on the market early in 2022.
It’s now Butterfly’s turn, though. It was published as a two-book series on December 11, 2021 by the Flio Widdix Publishing Company. Book One in the series is called Chrysalis, and Book Two is Emergence. This website is about the process of writing this story, and why the work and research on it was so extensive. You can buy the books individually or as a series here.
